It’s known science that when more people vote, those voters get more of what they want.
A strong GOTV effort created the opportunity for electing the two democratic senators in GA and provided the stimulus in the billions coming to the city of Detroit. That is the power of the vote.
Additionally, with the Biden/Harris infrastructure plan, Detroit gets many more billions.
Voting connects people of a community to common goals. Voting fulfills the human condition of being part of a society. Only in the US are those who do not vote treated as intelligent. The desire of White Males to convince Black folks to not vote, enables some Black folks to think that they are contributing to society by not voting. This is inappropriate behavior.
Not voting is the same as being sent to prison and having your vote taken away. Most people in prison are not allowed to vote. When people willfully refuse to vote, they are adopting a abnormal human behavior. The urge to choose for ourselves is a human instinct. Not voting is fighting against this natural instinct. People have invented myths and fantasy to explain why they do not vote. Many stating it makes no difference, some claiming they have no time. Neither of these excuses exist.
In Michigan you can vote from the comfort of your home, in your favorite chair and take as much time as you desire. There is no line, no crowd and no pressure. You get your ballot in the mail and you can send it back by the mail. Our mail carrier comes to our homes. It is the easiest method so far for voting in this country. This allows anyone who cannot take time off from work, or may need someone to watch their children, or those who provide constant care for family members to vote.
Michigan, and Detroit, has no excuse voting. You don’t need to provide a reason for voting by absentee. Therefore there is no longer an excuse for not voting.
The goal is to increase turnout. This is as easy as talking to your neighbors, family members, friends online. We should ask the people in our circle if they have voted or plan to vote. We should encourage people to vote. This can be said to anyone, living anywhere. No matter who you want to vote for, its important that you vote.
Our focus this year is on Detroit because of the elections and our historical low voter turnout.
VOTE!
